Is iRobot worth watching? I know that Will Smith is a great actor and I’ve seen many memes about it.

      Yeah it’s a decent early 2000s sci-fi action yarn.

      Is iRobot worth watching?

That, detective, is the right question.

      I liked it just fine!

I know there are a lot of Asimov diehards that found it disappointing. I don’t know why. The iRobot book wasn’t even really a book, it was a collection of short stories. Not exactly an easy thing to adapt to a movie.

The movie basically goes “there are 3 laws of robotics” and then its just action schlock the rest of the way. Also, iirc, it’s basically a car commercial too. I think it could have explored the themes of the book more, but I dunno.

My wife enjoys it and I don’t mind it? I’d say worth a watch.

      It’s a good flick, I enjoyed it

If you’re an avid Asimov fan, you should know it’s only loosely related to the iRobot stories.

I remember really liking it, when I first saw it, but I was in high school, at the time.

It’s a film (like many at the time) that’s much more influenced by the impact of 9/11 than Asimov.

You’ll probably be entertained though (it’s certainly still a competently made film) so I’d say watch it; that way you can know what others are referring to and be in on the cultural zeitgeist.

If you aren’t a fan of the book, I hear it’s fine. If you are, I hear you should skip it.
