I mean who is gonna stop him?

From retributive action against terrorists performing unprovoked attacks against civilian ships of numerous countries in international waters?

    No one, probably?

There’s a broader point here that everyone seems to be missing, which is that the role of president didn’t have the authority to do things like this historically. It’s not about it being R or D, or if it’s moral and justified ‘this time’. It’s that we’ve ceded a power to the executive which should be in the legislative branch.

I would really ask you to listen/ watch the debate I posted.

I hate when people say things like this like genocide is apparently not enough provocation.

Yeah, I’m sure those non-Israeli civilian ships not even heading to Israel are really provoking the Houthis with their genocidal actions.

Yes. Do you understand the idea of a ‘neutral nation’ or ‘international waters’?

Yemen explicitly rejected neutrality. That’s well within their rights when a genocide is happening at their doorstep.

You do understand that these ships being attacked are ships of neutral nations, right?

                You do understand that… right?

And that the attacks aren’t happening in Yemeni territorial waters or Israeli territorial waters, but in international waters.

                You realize that… right?

                … right…?

They’re literally not, though. The Houthis have been indiscriminately attacking ships passing through the area, which is largely used for passage through the Suez Canal - the only alternative being making a trip all the way around Africa.

2 wrongs don’t make a right. Uninvolved civilians just working a shift don’t deserve to die
