Yes, American clearly has racism and sexism, but I don’t think those have been the problem. The problem is running terrible candidates that ignore what Americans are looking for.
I think its likely both. They would have to not only be a decent candidate they would have to be spectacular to overcome inherent bias and pick up votes from independents and the other party to make up for that bias.
