The Council on American-Islamic Relations told KXAN that three mosques in Austin were affected. Austin City Council Member Zo Qadri later posted on social media the mosques involved were the Nueces Mosque in West Campus and the Turkish Center and IABA Mosque, both in northwest Austin.
The Star of David was spray-painted in several places around the Nueces Mosque building late Thursday evening. The property manager, Fathia, told KXAN she feels disheartened, but that the community will continue to spread a message of peace.
My double-take is taking the piss: I could’ve sworn that said “Autism mosques” and my mind straight-up ran with it for a lonnng second before “Ohh, Austin. 😅 That tracks.”
