Can you imagine, you bought a pallet of TP in 2020, and you finally run out in 2025 just intime for there to be No TP because of tarrifs.

No joke, I once spent an entire day feeling like I was straight up gonna die. I thought I had appendicitis or something but the pain was nowhere near my appendix. Either way it kept me laying prone waiting for death for like 8-12 hours before I finally went to the hospital.

So I go the hospital, they run all these tests, Im pretty sure they gave me some kind of drugs in the IV without fully telling me because I remember feeling a lot better and having to try hard not to giggle when they wheeled me around to get scanned.

So they do all this stuff, and then finally the doctor comes in and tells me Im just full of shit. Like, literally, I was massively constipated and that was the entire issue.

I got back home and was in a ton of pain again, so I drank an entire bottle of Miralax and then pooped my entire soul and most of my organs out the next morning. Im talkin ass-chaffing farts

As a bum gun user, this. Never need the paper unless you want to pat to dry, and then the paper is clean anyway.

Toilet paper is for sneezing, picking up bugs, or dinner table napkins.

I’m just happy that the newest electrical code is allowing electrical outlets closer to bathtubs. Otherwise I’d never be able to have a powered bidet on my toilet.

I’d have to go look up the exact wording, and it’s on my drive that I don’t have hooked up right now. GFCI was required for any outlet in a bathroom, but there was still a ban up until the most recent edition on any outlet within the… shoot, the word/phrase escapes me, something like ‘shower space,’ which includes the area with four horizontal feet of the edge of the bathtub. I have a toilet right next to the shower/tub combo, and a door next to the toilet, which meant no outlet allowed near the toilet and thus no electrically powered bidet.

    • Had a bidet going into the pandemic. I’d bought a big (grocery store big, not Costco big) package sometime before the runs. I’m still not quite through that pack.

    Why do people hoard TP?

    Like… So many useful things…

    Water

    Non-Perishible food/snacks

    FM/AM Radios and Two-Way Radios

    Satelite Phones

Self-Defence weapons (Or Firearms, if you are in such a jurisdiction that allows it)

    Tools

But no, they went for the toilet paper… 🤣 🤦‍♂️

People bought excess of lots of things, toilet paper just was more noticeable more quickly because of it’s huge volume to value ratio, and slow restocking (in part because of that ratio, it’s not worth warehousing so there was little flexibility in the supply chain).

Once the shortage started becoming obvious it was self-perpetuating, you needed to buy what toilet paper you could when you could because you didn’t know when you would be able to buy again. The supermarkets near me at the time had no toilet paper restocked for more than three months as supplies got redirected to “higher priority” stores.

That was a bizarre time period. I wonder why moms didn’t start hoarding baby diapers at the time. Can you imagine what happens if the supply chain collapses and you run out of diapers? Having enough toilet paper will be the last of your worries at that time.

Fortunately, all of those fears were unfounded, but they were also directed towards some weird items too. If you want to worry about something, toilet paper isn’t really very high on that list.

Im glad this was not one of those weird items that everyone lost their minds over unnecessarily.

I mean, there were times without these mondern diapers. If you have a baby you will have plenty of different cloths that you can use as a diaper if necessary. Just like your able to get clean down there without TP. Bizzare times indeed.

Random bonus fact: Back then many Babies were potty trained by the time they were one year old just because its more work to diaper your child up with cloth diapers and clean them after use.

We had a baby that was finished breast and on to bottle milk in the thick of the pandemic lockdowns.

There were some shortages but I distinctly remember there being two boxes of formula left after a mild shortage, some mild concern setting in but suppressing the monkey brain and leaving one behind as I thought about the other parent that was going to come along behind me.

I think mums and dads are more likely to think about the other baby and be less grabby (edit: of baby products). Pure speculation. We didn’t have much toilet roll hoarding here though either.

Shockingly I am one of them.

    But we didn’t hoard.

My ex used to work at a bjs and there was a sale the summer before lockdown AND we’d just bought a house so she had bought like 10 packs…. Had to fill all our empty storage.

    Anyways.

October 2024 I purchased my first toilet paper again since 2019.

I guess technically we didn’t buy any DURING the pandemic…

No joke but this somewhat describes me… I never hoarded TP, but I tend to buy toilet paper in large quantities (too lazy to go to grocery store) anyway, so I think my COVID stash lasted longer than my apartment at that time… I think I only used up all of it 2-3 years later. My then-roommate even took half of my stash when he moved out since I had so much lol

Just get a bidet. if you are feeling fancy, get that one like those in japan. You will be converted.

If you got electric issues, get a spray jet.

A few assholes bought as much TP as they could, also hand sanitizer and other items, to hoard and sell at exorbitant prices to make a profit off the pandemic. They made their homes and apartments into little warehouses.

When you’re the caretaker of an 88 year old mother with diabetes, you go through that much.

And since you’re a ignorant young male, women dab their urethra after they piss, which my mother does at least a dozen times a day.

You’ll understand after you move out of your parent’s house.

And when one of you “Well, Akshully…” cunts try to save face, you’re wrong, and ignorant, and sound stupid to actual adults.

“Educating” my ass; have you ever thanked a teacher for calling you a wrong stupid cunt?

If I want to educate you on the proper way to respond to someone stating their own possibly-naive experience, I’d undermine my effort if I let my own cunt face follow it up with “Now go wipe your mom’s ass for the umpteenth time cuz you’re a shitty teacher.”

Sincerely, I don’t feel the kind of hostility towards you that that example suggests. But if you feel insulted, reflect on that and go from there.

The result May change if you are using mega rolls or normal ones or w/e else is there.
