Wasn’t a major sales pitch of Brexit claiming that funds previously sent to Brussels would go into NHS? Maybe I’ve been up too long, but I seem to remember some buses.

No? I mean, if you don’t see how bad the USA is, I don’t know what to say to you.

I don’t think you understand how bad the UK is. I’m only saying that it’s arguable which is better on most issues. On the issue of healthcare however, it is strictly better in the UK though their system is deteriorating in its own way as their political situation also devolves.

Sorry, but it’s really not. The UK, like so many other countries, is just following the fascist trail blazed by the USA. I hope this doesn’t come across as me trying to defend the UK, by the way. It’s just that I’d find it hard to find many countries worse than the USA, by almost every metric.

And I’m American. Funny how neither of us knows how bad our home countries are. As you mentioned though, our cultures share a lot of problems. In terms of housing, nutrition, street safety, class issues, social stratification, and wealth inequality I don’t think it’s a one to one comparison. We have issues of a different nature on these things which is why I think it’s arguable which is better. I personally would not be able to live in the UK and I know that from experience. While I was living there it was not apparent to me in any way that it was better (other than healthcare, which is obviously better), but it was different.

Not for long. It is going into fascism just as much as the US is, not that it ever really was that far behind.

I suspect we’re going to see the sort of brain drain and emigration among those with means that characterized 1930s Germany as people realized what the fuck was going on.

Just remember: It only gets worse from here.

I know of no high-profile American who knows how to properly roast Jimmy Carr.
