After accidentally sitting on my favorite pair today and destroying them, it got me wondering how many pair of shades I’ve owned in my lifetime.

I’m just gonna go with a round number and say about 50. I only buy cheap sunglasses btw

Five maybe? I lost one nice pair to a wave at the beach, and since then I buy mine at truck stops and dollar stores. It’s much less stressful to wear glasses that cost me $1.50 !

Ok I would think you might be somewhat younger. This has been my philosophy for years but you start to rack up the numbers as time goes on!

        I’m late 30s.
I can’t remember <13. So, at least the last 30+ years I’ve had 4 pairs of sunnies. Maybe 5 pairs.
I’ve still got 2 of those pairs.
I’m tempted to get a fancy pair that look good instead of just sunnies that look good enough (ie, more than $100). I just don’t wear them enough… Maybe a couple weeks a year?
What’s the point in buying good sunglasses, and why would I lose a pair?
I’ve had the same wallet for 15 years, I’ve been locked out once, and I’ve lost my phone about 3 times (all of which I’ve got my phone back).

I’m recovering from about 10 years of undiagnosed depression. Recently (like a year) it has affected my short term memory, to the point I thought I had ADHD or something else. Effecting my work, my ability to live day-to-day, my socialmlife.
I now realise, while ADHD might be a factor, undiagnosed depression has devastated who I am VS who I think I am and who I want to be.

Are there other explanations for your forgetfulness?
Is it age related? Anything else you find you are forgetting?

          You like your vision.

You take them most places with you so you have a much higher chance of losing them.

Wow you’ve got a good track record compared to me lol.

Countless times, I’ve just lost them randomly or misplaced them or broken them.

I was actually a lot more of a socialite before covid, so I think that could’ve been a big factor. I think the favorite pair I had(that I just broke) would probably got at the beginning of lockdown. I guess my point is I haven’t been losing/breaking shades as much as I did when I was out doing more stuff.

The last fancy shades I had were a gift given to me. I ended up accidentally leaving them at a restaurant/gaming center. Just one of my many examples of sunglasses mishaps.

Other than the one I lost at the beach, I lost one on a roller coaster, I recall sitting on one, and a few plastic ones just broke. Not counting whatever I had as a kid, no idea there. Not an unreasonable number, I think.

Maybe 6. One prescription, and two dollar store pairs. I wear sunglasses pretty much any time I go outside unless there’s no sun. Year-round.

I might have had 1-2 as a kid, probably because I thought it looked cool. But I lost them pretty fast. Other than that I don’t see the need for them.

Three. I bought a cheap one, discarded it, bought an expensive one later on which I still use and when I moved there was a pair of sun glasses just laying there on a cupboard from the previous tenant. So now that one is in my drawer.

I know exactly because I need prescription.

    11. So that’s roughly one pair every 4 years. Of which I have 10, one of them is at the bottom of a lake somewhere

I’ve owned five, but have worn/used three.

First pair from age 13 or 14 through to 17. Second pair from 17 until 24. Third pair has seen daily use for over 14 years.

I have replaced the lenses in my third pair once, and have a couple of pairs of spare lenses if the need arises. I already have my next two pairs of sunglasses, bought them maybe eight years ago, just in case.

This doesn’t include tinted safety glasses that I wear at work, I usually only get an average of 6-8 months out of those.

Impressive. Sounds like you take your sunglasses game very seriously - especially if you have some on lock down for the future.

I just like the idea of never having to buy another pair of sunglasses. If the next two pairs last as long as my current pair, they should outlast me.

I’m going to guess 20. I wear them a lot. I probably buy a new pair every other year. I go for no-brand, but always polarized.

The leading cause of death is getting scratched up while getting tossed around in the car.

Like 50. I used to have a ridiculous amount of sunglasses I got given as free merch. Nowadays I just have a prescription pair of sunglasses I replace every few years

Why would you have to think about this? Just activate the tism and count them up.

12, if you count transition lenses that I have now.

Grew up in phoenix… my eyes are very sensitive to light. I rarely can find lenses that are dark enough…

SO MANY…. Seriously well into triple digits

Lifetime? Dozens. Hell, I get so many free ones as swag at places it’s ridiculous.

I only really wear my one pair though. It’s got prescription lenses, so I did kind of splurge on that pair for something nice and would go with everything.

I really like unique or kinda of wild styles though, things that make a statement. So I’d like to be able to wear, afford, and store more. Even as a man, I think accessories round out an outfit and make it look complete. Like a nice watch, the appropriate shoes, jacket, and hat.

I have only ever had two pairs of sunglasses. The first set when I was a child, and the second set that stays in the car. I dont really go anywhere that would benefit from sunglasses, so that has been enough for me.

I can not count. I learned my lesson about buying expensive sunglasses with a single large wave at the beach. I’ve been buying cheap polarized wayfarer style sunglasses since. Do they break… yes. Does $5 hurt me at this point no
