Speed up or slow down time at will
Just gotta carry disinfectant wipes and stuff I guess. I’d take this deal
Seriously, what’s with Google giving completely wrong suggestions in docs nowadays? I’m forced to use it for work and it’s been insane lately.
Non-American here. There’s a huge market for cheap Chinese goods outside the US. There are a lot of little things where you don’t need quality, just “good enough to get the job done”. There’s a chain of stores all around SEA called Mr. DIY that is basically full of worryingly cheap made in China products and it’s thriving.
Then there’s the various electronics brands that at least have reliable quality with good specs for the costs. Huge market for those despite bloat, spyware etc. outside of the US. As if you don’t get that with practically all mainstream electronics from any country anyway. Plus for non smart electronics, they’re fine. Xioami makes a great and cheap precision electronic screwdriver for example. Then there’s car companies like BYD that is just killing it in the global EV market.
Not saying the Chinese government is great or anything, they’ve got hands as bloody as any other global superpower, but I do think Chinese companies can find plenty of willing customers outside of the US.
Tl;dr A lot of the world is willing to buy “cheap garbage”, and not everything China is producing is seen as “cheap garbage” anymore.
Don’t you mean where are your
My first thought reading your comment is of the award winning director of No Other Land who got attacked and detained after having already received his Oscar… Then there’s photo journalist Fatma Hassona who was the subject of the documentary Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk who got killed in a bombing alongside her whole family.
We are unfortunately learning that becoming famous doesn’t necessarily protect people…
Oh right, and then he said he loves using the laptop now or something like that
I believe he said he started with Mint then moved to Arch, partially because of the memes.
It’s good to consider why these discussions “go nowhere”. I’d argue that influential countries following through with promises would set good examples (not really happening but would be great if it did). Showing complete disdain for climate talks and policy however encourages other governments to do the same.
So no forcing IMO, but just a desperate “Can’t we all do better?”
There was a gigantic one back in March, killed over a thousand. A building in Bangkok, Thailand even collapsed.
Not like Myanmar hadn’t already been bombing their citizens up to and after the quake though .
Honestly yeah, that was it for me. Seeing him get elected this time was really this feeling of “Oh, that’s just how it is over there huh?”.
The first time I could just believe your voting systems are messed up with the electoral college and all, and the massive push back that happened. Feelings were also optimistic coming off the Obama years.
But now that he’s spent the last several years fully mask off, investigated up and down revealing all the crazy things we’d been hearing about him and his cronies were true, and he still gets elected? By majority vote too?? There’s no excuses.
The US is actually just like that huh?
Not saying you ARE definitely neurodivergent, but difficulty with jokes and sarcasm to the extent you’re describing is not neurotypical behavior. Basically, no, the behavior is not normal, it’s atypical.
Regarding your longer comment, having rigid, unconventional, self-made rules is another behavior I see in a lot of the neurodivergent individuals I work with. Again, not saying you definitely are neurodivergent, but these are not neurotypical behaviors
Not exactly neurotypical behavior, particularly if it’s all the time. Working with the neurodivergent community, difficulty sensing jokes and sarcasm is something I see a lot. Just worked with a child who was pretty distraught with all the April fools jokes going on with their peers and not being able to tell what’s real or not
What an incredibly polite way of saying “Bitch, we already got military agreements with you wtf you saying, dumbass?”
I legit had the same thought just yesterday. I’m typically very hard on myself about doing a good job with my work and meeting my own expectations, but seeing Hegseth et al. play down Signal-gate got me thinking, I have never in my life fucked-up that bad and these fuckers still have the confidence to say they’re good at their jobs, and that makes me feel better.
There’s still some toxicity around Buddhism at least. Living in SEA I now know several people who are really turned off by the practices and beliefs of their family’s religion, Buddhism, from the way all troubles are explained away as karma to neurodiversity and Learning Differences being hidden because that would mean that person did something bad in their past life.
I used to think Buddhism specifically was the “good” religion that’s more like philosophy, but spending more time with people who grew up deep in Buddhism has made me see there’s really more to the community and it’s beliefs and practices than I thought.
I agree with this advice of having someone take a look at your resume. Way back, I had an older friend of mine with experience managing CV’s help me work on mine and even the base template of my cover letters. I’ve done a number of interviews, mostly unsuccessful though I’m happy with where I’m at now, and one consistent thing I’ve heard is that I have an impressive resume, and I’m forever thankful to my friend for helping me put it together.
I don’t quite agree on customizing your CV for every submission, but I do do this for my cover letter/correspondence.
Also, yes, reaching out directly to places you want to work with has worked for me a couple of times. If there are hiring/networking events for your field, even online ones, I’d recommend that too. Best success I’ve had landing interviews is through these kind of events and I’ve only done online ones.
Columbia University PhD student Ranjani Srinivasan calls accusations that she’s a ‘terrorist sympathizer’ absurd, telling CBC’s David Common that she feared for her safety after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials showed up at her door.
That’s the entire text with a 7 minute video on the page.
Newsworthy and valuable info in this climate, but I can’t be the only one who gets frustrated when a news site posts basically just a video and no actual article. Maybe just a personal gripe
Slow down time enough that I trip for 8 hours and it’s only been a minute. Awesome
