Use 500k to get my foot in the door at one of the 0% tax havens (they often require >=500k investment to get a legal entity representation). Use the other 500k + my savings to rake in the expended 500k at 0% tax via investments. Pay you back on time and be left with a 0% tax haven foothold that’ll make me +20-30% on anything I’ll invest in the future, compared to what I’d gain on investments right now due to taxation in my country.
Oh. Nobody mentioned “Rolo Tomassi” yet! One of my all-time favorites. Saw them live, too. A 1.50m petite lead singer with a voice from Hell. Love them so hard!
Have the same issue with them. I recently churned from Kagi after being a paying Pro customer. 10,-/month is simply too much. I’m paying for email (1,-/month) and web hosting (1,-/month) and web search should be in that price range to make it an attractive offer for people.
I wrote to Kagi saying as much when I churned (also criticizing that most of their changelog messages are about LLM updates for “Ultimate” customers), but they responded saying that they believe in their offer and that the trajectory of new users signing up gives them confidence.
I am, however, not willing to shell out Streaming Service level pricing (services that stream hundreds of GB to me every month) for some web searches.
As much as it pains me due to Brave being involved in the whole crypto scam business and their CEO apparently being another a**hole tech fascist, I am using Brave Search for now. Its results were not inferior when I compared them to Kagi and I don’t need 95% of all the extra fluff that Kagi offers.
As soon as there’s an offer for private search results with their own index that is not censored nor ad-driven, that company (maybe Kagi!) will have my money. But it needs to be commodity-priced like mail or hosting.
Maybe I have bad Wedding karma? Why Yes, I’m divorced myself. 😆
Hard +1. Physically violent and later sexually abusive priests working in my private Catholic school.
Fist fight between the two families in the evening. Marriage annulled within 2 days.
Father-In-Law (divorced) giving a drunken speech about how marriage is a mistake, followed by his ex-wife / mother-in-law giving a drunken speech about how marriage is a mistake and how the bride is not good enough for her son. Divorced within a few years.
Thank you! Precisely my thoughts. I was a paying Kagi customer for a year, but compared to e.g. Brave’s on search index, their results were not vastly superior. I never got into using all those fancy search !bangs or custom prioritizations for individual sites and >90% of their changelog updates in that 1 year were about which additional new LLM was now also available for Ultimate Tier customers - but I didn’t come to Kagi for LLM assistants. That’s didn’t use to be their value proposition.
“The check is in the mail”
That’s what happens when you rehire the local DVP during reunification.
Decided to OpenSource instead of Software Patent (as my employer was urging me). Nowadays, that technique is used in every decent Image CDN + compression tool. Still proud to see it everywhere. Maybe it wouldn’t have made it if had been patented.
Many other good ones have already been mentioned, so I won’t repeat those titles. But “Suspiria” (2018 edition) definitely deserves a mention. The ending is just … well, clearly somebody amongst the original writers had some issues regarding reproductive systems … but the other 98% of the movie feature brilliant suspense & eiriness at all times. And Tilda Swinton is simply to-die-for in it. ;)
It Follows is definitely one of the best horror movies regarding suspense and general feeling of … gloom?! Eireness?! Futility?! Darkness?! Whatever it is, I love it!
And the (potentially) underlying message is powerful.
A Knippix Kombi-Zange. Well played! Good tools are worth every cent.
(FYI: this is divorcées attempting to date)
Went on my 1st date after divorce. Sat down together at a café. After greeting each other, she immediately asks “So when do you intend to move to my town?”. I reply by saying “Whoa! Take it slow. Let’s get to know each other first!” and feeling that she can’t be serious about her question.
She, however, explodes in my face that she has a life and a kid in that other town and no time to waste. I managed to reply that I have a life and kids in this current town we’re in, too, before she jumps up and storms away cursing.
Not the most conducive first post-marital dating experience.
+1 on this. Hiker+Trail-Runner here. So I sometimes encounter cows on high mountain passes where taking a detour can mean hours of delay. But after getting kicked like that once, I am very careful around herds, esp. when they have young ones / horns (as they often do grassing on mountains) / bulls in the mix.
Now I’m left wondering what the children of a water system look like.
In no particular order:
Came here to write exactly this. Thank you! <3 Another neat feature of this “gesture” (many-year effort, actually) is that you can’t just buy it like a bunch of flowers or a fancy holiday. It actually takes time & commitment.
