I am not showing up early for work. I arrive precisely when I mean to. And I leave right on time.

The part about not losing your job is true. The six weeks are mandated by law, it’s how long your employer has to pay your full salary. After that your health insurance will pick up the bill, paying “Krankengeld”. This is limited to 78 weeks within a three year span. Krankengeld is limited to 70% of your income before taxes.

It’s a bit misleading to count the public holidays which are always on a Sunday. The normal maximum you can get with days that can fall on a weekday is 14 in the city of Augsburg.

And the number of sick days is not unlimited. The cause for the illness/injury must not be your fault. And then it’s limited to six continuous weeks for the same cause. It’s a bit more complex, but the gist is that it’s not unlimited.

People who describe themselves as funny rarely are funny to others. And racist jokes are still racist. But we are just talking about dark humor here, and I will stand by my statement that you might not like that kind of joke, but it’s still a joke. And neither by making the joke or by laughing about the joke are you saying that you actually want whatever the joke is about to happen. Otherwise people like Anthony Jeselnik or Jimmy Carr would not have a career.

Jokes will never be funny to everyone but they are still jokes. You can think it’s a bad joke or a good joke in bad taste, sure. But it’s still a joke.

I don’t hate AI-created images. I hate the insane amounts of energy required for current AI models. I hate that it’s the same rich assholes who control everything also controlling AI. I hate that they monopolize access to models trained on all our work. And I hate that it will be these rich assholes benefiting from humans being put out of work by AI. Because this will happen on some scale.

If it were free, I’d love AI. Because it allows people who aren’t artists to create stuff. And lowering the barrier of entry on art is always good, in my opinion.

Well, I’ve always been curious what a ruthless person would do with all that DNA data. I’ll finally find out.
